Janeiro Branco: Brazil Celebrates Mental Health Awareness
White January is a global awareness campaign about Mental Health that began in 2014 in Brazil. The campaign seeks to give attention to Mental Health as a vital aspect of improving people's quality of life, promoting healthier social relationships and positive transformations in social institutions around the world.
The month of January was strategically chosen because, as the first month of the year, promotes greater openness in people to reflection, new resolutions and goals for the year ahead. The color white represents blank paper or canvases, on which a person can draw, write or rewrite whatever they want for themselves and for the world, symbolizing the open horizon and creating the feeling of unlimited power that each beginning of the year allows for humanity.
