About AANHPI
AANHPI Heritage Month is celebrated in May to honor the culture and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islander Americans. The choice of May has historical significance: it commemorates the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to America on May 7, 1843, and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, which involved significant contributions from Chinese immigrants, on May 10, 1869. The AANHPI community, representing over 50 ethnic groups, has made significant impacts across social, economic, cultural, literary, culinary, and political spheres in the United States.
